Talbot Woods, Bournemouth, is a very pleasant and sought after area to live in.
This Residents Association has been in existence since the 1960s. It is run by a Committee of volunteer resident members, elected each year at the Annual General Meeting.
The Association aims to “Conserve the Area and Foster a Community Spirit”.
In 2019, following the Boundary Commission changes to wards in Bournemouth and Poole and the formation of the BCP Council, the Association now covers a defined part of the newly enlarged Talbot and Branksome Woods ward.
This area includes part of the Meyrick Park and Talbot Woods Conservation Area that was designated in 1988 and for which the Character Appraisal was adopted by Bournemouth Borough Council in 2009. The Association seeks to represent the interests of residents living both within the Conservation Area and the roads to the west of Glenferness Avenue which lie just outside the Conservation Area. For a full list of roads covered by the Association click here.
The Association currently has members in around 400 homes in Talbot Woods and more residents are joining.
We care for the environment in which we live, and believe that an Association such as ours can help to preserve its special character for the benefit of current and future residents.
We examine planning applications, and if an application might have an adverse effect on the area covered by the Association, we make representations to the Council’s Planning Department, where necessary informing our Ward Councillors and sending a representative to address the Planning Committee.
We liaise closely with our Ward Councillors Karen Rampton, Matthew Gillett and Dawn Logan and when appropriate with Jessica Toale MP.
We produce 3 Newsletters each year, the first in January/February including the official notice of our AGM, then Spring and Autumn issues.
We organise a couple of social events annually.
